Shiga Toxin-producing E.coli (STEC) are important foodborne pathogens which can cause severe outcomes for those infected. This online training session focuses on what STEC are, where they are found, why they have caused so much concern, and how they can be controlled.

Course overview

We will look at the relationships between non-pathogenic E.coli, E.coli O157, and non-O157 STEC.

We will consider the history of STEC illness outbreaks, options for testing, controls in food production, and how effectiveness of controls may be monitored.
