High Street Textile Testing Services, part of Eurofins MTS Consumer Product Testing UK Ltd within the Eurofins Softlines & Leather network of companies, is pleased to announce that they have successfully achieved accreditation as a fire testing laboratory for the provision of testing in accordance with International Maritime Organisation Fire Test Procedure 2010 Parts 8 and 9.

FTP 2010 Part 8 deals with the flammability of upholstered furniture and its components (cover fabrics, filling materials) using cigarette and match-equivalent flame ignition sources and is similar but not identical to other tests for which HSTTS holds ISO 17025 accreditation including BS 5852, EN 1021, and UK and Irish Upholstered Furniture Regulations.

IMO Part 9 deals with bedding components including blankets, quilts, bedspreads, pillows, mattresses (including mattress toppers), bed drapes and comforters. The testing is broadly similar but not identical to test methods such as BS 6807, EN 597, EN ISO 12952 and/or BS 7175 (depending on the product being tested) and for which HSTTS also hold ISO 17025 accreditation.

This additional accreditation expands the extensive range of flammability testing already available within the Eurofins Softlines & Leather network of laboratories.
