Interview to Juan Antonio (General Manager)

Q. Why should a mattress producer company test and check the quality of their products?

A. We spend 1/3 of our life on a mattress and it is very important this resting time to be safety and healthy.

Q. Your company has a firmly commitment with the quality and safety of your products. Why do you attach so much importance to that?

A. Nowadays humanity is suffering new diseases which were unknown some years ago – most probably as a result of poor diet or exposure to new products and chemicals. Gomarco group, MY BABY MATTRESS leading the way, aim to be a quality and safety reference in our industry.

Q. Your products target children, is it is the most demanding market?

A. Of course it is, we love our children above all and they are the most susceptible to the diseases - reason why we must take particular care during those first years of life.

Q. Why did you decide to verify compliance of your mattresses with the standard?

A. Basically for 3 reasons: 1. - We are very concerned with the safety of all the products we are manufacturing. 2. - All the mattresses have to comply with the standard EN 16890 and we wanted to be make sure all the mattresses produced by MY BABY were in order. 3. - Large national and international customers demand that the products comply with the standard.

Q. You are one of the first companies ensuring compliance. Do you think this is a competitive advantage and adds value to your products?

A. Of course, in Spain there are few baby mattresses producers’ companies and no one have checked their products to verify the standard before. We believe that by caring and testing all our mattresses we give the parents the peace of mind of knowing that our mattresses are completely safe.

Q. Do you believe target consumers are aware of the effort required to produce quality and safety mattresses?

A. We do believe so, safety is essential in the children sector and we do believe target consumers should be more aware of this standard.

Q. Do you believe that the compliance with this standard may help you to trade in other markets?

A. It clearly does, there are more demanding markets concerning standards than the Spanish. MY BABY MATTRESS exports 52% of their production, reason why this standard will help us to continue growing at the international level.

Q. Do you consider Eurofins a reliable technological partner?
