Lancaster Science Factory

The Lancaster Science Factory (LSF) enriches the Lancaster community, fostering an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), which supports the local economy and fosters an identity as a community of makers and doers. LSF puts STEM education on the map with a hands‐on, interactive style that is unique in Central Pennsylvania: students are immersed in a space that is active, energising, and involves all of their senses.

The Lancaster Science Factory is not only a part of the community – it serves the community.

In 2020/2021, the Eurofins Foundation supported the installation of an Outdoor Sustainability Courtyard, a new outdoor space to educate the community about the issue of pollution in the nearby Chesapeake Bay and what they can do to help the environment in their own day-to-day life, in a fun and interactive way.

In 2021/2022, the Eurofins Foundation also supported the “Bubble Exhibit Upgrade”.

Part of the objective of the Science Factory is to inspire students to see STEM topics as fun and exciting.  The new Bubble Exhibit is be a complete sensory experience, teaching children about surface tension and basics like shapes, sizes, patterns, reflections, and colours.

The Eurofins Foundation renewed its support in 2022/2023, helping LSF install multiple new exhibits that are teaching more than 60,000 visitors per year about science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on learning experiences. New exhibits this funding helped support include a "laser harp", wind power exhibit, Bernoulli blower, magnetic ball wall, and our highly iconic Sky Bridge Luckey Climber.
