Mondo Foundation
Project Country: India
Mondo Foundation is a UK-registered charity working on community-based projects at grassroots level to empower local people in Nepal, India, Tanzania, Uganda, and The Gambia. It aims to provide high quality education for children and motivate them to progress with their education and contribute back to their economies. Mondo Foundation enables livelihood opportunities and encourages vulnerable groups of people to become self-sustainable through starting and developing businesses.
Their work in India focuses primarily on education, ensuring that children from rural communities are offered a high-quality standard of learning and opportunities for extracurricular development.
In 2025-2026, the Eurofins Foundation is supporting the project “School Sanitary Support.”
This project addresses a critical issue in 11 rural schools in Kalimpong, where outdated and inadequate sanitation facilities are impacting children’s health and education. Many schools have toilets that are clogged, damaged, or unusable during monsoon season, and lack access to water for hygiene. Girls are disproportionately affected, often missing school during menstruation due to the absence of clean and secure facilities. Teachers experience the same barrier, reducing lesson time and overall learning quality. Without intervention, these challenges perpetuate illness, absenteeism, and gender inequality in education.
The project will repair and upgrade sanitation facilities in all 11 schools, providing toilets, handwashing stations, and water tanks tailored to each school’s needs. Improvements will include gender-segregated toilets, disabled-access facilities, and rainwater harvesting systems where appropriate. Construction will be carried out by local professionals, with materials sourced locally to support the community. The Eurofins Foundation’s grant will fund essential works in five schools and contribute to hygiene improvements in the remaining six, ensuring that every child has access to safe and dignified facilities.
By improving sanitation, the project will create healthier learning environments, boost attendance and attainment, and empower girls to pursue education without barriers. Beyond immediate benefits, the initiative strengthens local economies through employment and sets a new standard for school infrastructure in vulnerable communities.
