enVie

enVie is a Belgian social enterprise located in Anderlecht, Brussels, which makes soup from fresh surplus vegetables supplied by Belgian farmers. The soup is made by a team of individuals who are re-entering the workforce after a period of long-term unemployment. enVie also shares its produce with Food Aid organisations.

In 2020/2021, the Eurofins Foundation supported enVie, now in its fourth year, in the sustainable scaling-up of its production line so they can double their production.

Thanks to this grant, enVie managed to:

  • Develop new markets and products, increasing the impact on their team and farmers
  • Overhaul part of the production line, incl. dosing/capping machine, kettle, etc.
  • Renovate the electrical, ventilation and plumbing infrastructure (wastewater drainage)
  • Re-assemble two new R&D premises
  • Purchase new machinery required for site maintenance, cleaning, and hygiene
  • Maintain HACCP facilities (pest control, cleaning equipment).
