Les Oursins - Enfants des Trottoirs

In 1995, Aurore Prudent Roiland created the association Les Oursins* – Enfants des Trottoirs, which aims to improve the situation of vulnerable children in the Philippines.

She has observed the hardships that street children face in their daily lives and founded Les Oursins* – Enfants des Trottoirs to address this situation by maximising the modes of expression for children through play.

Since then, Les Oursins* has supported street and slum children suffering from a wide range of social issues and vulnerabilities, empowering them by providing better sanitary conditions, regular meals, social support and education. Les Oursins* gives these children the means to rebuild, recover and choose their future.

In 2021/2022, the Eurofins Foundation contributed to the “Health, Sanitation and Medical Project”, working to improve children's health by providing them with clean drinking water and dental care, setting up a game library, and restoring decent hygiene in bathrooms.

In 2022/2023, the Eurofins Foundation renewed its support to the organisation, through the Multidisciplinary Medical-Health Project 2023. At present, there is very little understanding of the dangers of water in this region. A major educational effort is underway, in partnership with the public school. Les Oursins’ sanitary facilities, drinking water tank and rainwater harvesting system, clearly identified and signposted, all contribute to raising awareness of the proper use of water.

The Eurofins Foundation’s grant strengthened the association’s determination to pursue their project: the grant has enabled the immediate purchase of equipment to launch the construction and renovation work and thus motivate other sponsors to join in.

In 2023, the local authorities committed to the construction and renovation of infrastructure. The impact on the team of employees and volunteers has been essential.
