Autour des Williams (France)
Based in France, Autour des Williams has 3 mains goals: spreading awareness of Williams Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects 1/10 000 births, financing of research projects both at national and European level and supporting families affected by the syndrome, from diagnosis to education, health and inclusion through digital platforms and annual meetings.
In 2020, Eurofins Foundation provided a research grant to a team based in Bordeaux, France, for a project targeting the identification of novel therapeutic targets for neurodevelopmental disorders, testing the efficacy of new molecules opening the BKCa and SK channels provided in both acute and chronic studies in transgenic mice and identifying the most appropriate molecule doses and their combination, to minimise specific side effects and maximise therapeutic potential.
