"Oh Crap I Gut My Future"

"Oh Crap I Gut My Future" is focussed on the fact that the gut microbiome has a major influence on our health, personality and behaviour. The microbiome develops in the first 3 years of life and is very changeable in that time frame. The conditions of birth, breast-feeding and the first solid foods consumed by a child play a crucial role in how the microbiome settles, and determines how it will protect against diseases for the rest of life.  This is mainly due to the interaction and growth of microorganisms and how these microorganisms then again interact with the functionalities of the body.

In 2020, Eurofins Foundation supported The Microbiome Sensor team to build their network and gain credibility in the field. The project was admitted to two incubator programmes in order to find a market, and the team gained connections with infant and childcare organisations in the Netherlands, who are now supporting them in the design process.

The grant also supported the building of a quick, low-fi Minimal Viable Products and the design process that comes with it. This led to a concrete Minimal Viable Product prototype, which will be developed into a high-quality product in the upcoming months.
