Allergy UK

Allergy UK is the only nationwide non-profit organisation that provides vital support services to people living with all kinds of allergies in the United Kingdom. Allergies don’t just impact people’s quality of life; they can also be fatal.

In 2020/2021, the Eurofins Foundation provided a grant to Allergy UK’s ‘Omnibus Research’ project to conduct a two-part research programme.

In June 2021, people from all over the UK were invited to complete an online survey. There were over 4,000 respondents, with nearly 75% suffering from allergies.

The research surveyed adults aged 18 and older from all four nations of the UK, across all genders, demographics, and employment statuses. The survey aimed to determine:

  • What allergies the UK population suffers from?
  • What are the thoughts and attitudes of non-allergic people towards allergy sufferers, and could they help someone if they were having a severe reaction?
  • How do allergies impact the daily lives of people who suffer from them?

The research acquired data on the frequency of the ten most common allergies (complete data available in December 2021).

This research will enable Allergy UK to engage with parliamentarians about the unmet needs of allergy sufferers and to have conversations on how to improve services and raise awareness to the general public.
