In 2024-2025, the Eurofins Foundation is contributing to the project “Rapid Hyperspectral Techniques for On-Site Microplastic Contamination Detection: Water, Soils, Sands, and Foods.”

The project aims to develop a portable hyperspectral sensor for the rapid detection of microplastics and their chemical additives. Microplastics pose significant environmental and health risks, contaminating water, soil, sand, and food sources. Current detection methods are time-consuming and laboratory dependent; this project addresses these challenges by creating a field-deployable solution for immediate detection and remediation.
