In2ScienceUK

In2ScienceUK is a UK-based non-profit organisation founded in 2011 to empower young people from low-income backgrounds with the skills, experiences and confidence needed to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and careers. Through its flagship In2STEM programme, the charity provides high-quality work placements, skills workshops and year-round access to its In2Careers online platform, offering mentoring, networking and tailored career support. In2ScienceUK partners with leading universities, research institutes and industry organisations, and has supported over 5,300 young people to date, driving diversity and social mobility in STEM fields.

In 2025-2026, the Eurofins Foundation is supporting the project “HerPathways: In2STEM to In2Careers.” This initiative focuses on enabling disadvantaged young women in London to access structured STEM placements and sustained career development support.

Despite strong interest in STEM, many talented girls from low-income and first-generation backgrounds face significant barriers to these industries, including lack of work experience, financial constraints, limited role models, and low confidence. These challenges often result in a plummeting representation of girls in later STEM education, the critical period when aspirations should translate into action. HerPathways was launched to address these issues by providing safe, structured placements, practical skills training and ongoing mentoring, ensuring that participants can make informed choices about their future.

The project will support 75 disadvantaged girls to complete STEM placements, attend skills and careers workshops, and transition into the In2Careers online community for year-round mentoring and networking. The Eurofins Foundation grant will directly support 16 of these girls. By removing barriers and providing sustained guidance, HerPathways will help young women build confidence, gain professional connections and progress into STEM degrees and careers, creating a more diverse and future-ready STEM workforce.
