Ear Care Nepal (Nepal)

Ear Care Nepal’s (ECN) is an NGO that was established in 2013 to help prevent hearing loss in school-aged children in Nepal through early detection, timely intervention, and preventative education.
ECN’s programme consists of three integral parts: SCREEN children for ear diseases and hearing loss; TREAT ear diseases for restoration of hearing; and EDUCATE about ear and hearing health. They fund ear surgery for low-income families and provide hearing aids when hearing cannot be restored through surgery. ECN is the only organisation in Nepal conducting school-based ear health programmes, allowing them to reach the most underprivileged and at-risk children. Since its foundation, over 137,000 children from the most unserved community have been screened and treated for ear and hearing problem, and 1,050 children have received ear surgeries for restoration of hearing, all for free. ECN also conducts training programmes with school nurses and Female Community Health Volunteers about ear and hearing care for prevention of avoidable hearing loss in children.
In 2024-2025, the Eurofins Foundation is contributing to the school-based “Ear and Hearing Health Program for Prevention of Hearing Loss.”
A team of highly skilled doctors, nurses, and administrators will lead school programmes with free screening, audiology tests, and education for all students from preschool to 10th grade (average ages 4-16).
