Nourishing Schools Foundation (India)

Nourishing Schools Foundation (NSF) is a non-profit organisation established in 2016 with a mission to empower children to take charge of improving their nutrition, health, and environment. Working with government schools and communities across India, NSF equips children aged 9–14 with knowledge and life skills that create lasting change. At the heart of its work is the Nourishing Schools Toolkit, a gamified, activity-based curriculum that integrates nutrition, hygiene, and climate-sensitive practices into classroom learning. Since its inception, NSF has reached over 95,000 children in more than 330 schools across six states, demonstrating measurable improvements in nutrition knowledge and hygiene behaviours.

In 2025-2026, the Eurofins Foundation is supporting the project “Healthy Futures Catalyst: Scaling Nutrition Education in Indian Schools.” This initiative will roll out the Nourishing Schools Toolkit across 138 government schools in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Assam and New Delhi, reaching thousands of children with interactive, evidence-based nutrition education.

India faces the dual challenge of undernutrition and rising lifestyle-related health risks among schoolchildren, particularly in low-income communities. Schools often lack structured interventions to address these gaps. This project was launched to tackle these systemic challenges by embedding preventive health education into school systems.

The project will train teachers to deliver gamified modules on nutrition, hygiene and climate-nutrition linkages, reaching 27,600 children aged 9-14. Activities will include experiential learning and regular monitoring through surveys and case studies. The Eurofins Foundation will support critical components such as toolkit development and rollout, and teacher workshops.
