Aim

The training programme aims to impart thorough knowledge on the instruments and testing protocols used to check the mechanical properties of a material. The test specimens are prepared for metallic and non-metallic materials as per the specified national and international standards, including ASTM, BS, and IS.

The programme is best suited to individuals who already have background knowledge on mechanics.

6-day taining module

Day 1

Introduction to material to be tested in laboratory, its properties and applications.

Day 2

Testing principles, protocols and basic knowledge about instruments.

Day 3

Hardness, flaring, bend, hydrostatic, and flattening tests, along with hands-on training on the instruments used for these tests, such as hardness testers, UTM machines, and tensile testing machines.

Day 4

Charpy and izod impact test and hands-on the related instruments.

Day 5

Microhardness, shear, proof load, and torsion tests, along with hands-on training on the instruments used for these tests, such as microhardness testers and torsion testing machines.

Day 6

Tensile testing, mercurous nitrate testing, re-bend testing, and permanent set testing, along with hands-on training on instruments such as profile projectors and coating thickness testers.

Minimum eligibility required: Diploma or a graduate degree in science, or currently pursuing a qualification in a related field.
