Genetic tests assess an individual’s risk of developing certain conditions and support the diagnosis of existing diseases. The Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics Ireland advisory team assists healthcare professionals with result interpretation, helping to guide clinical decision-making and treatment planning. 

We offer single gene testing, fixed panels, customised panels, whole exome sequencing and whole genome sequencing. To help you determine the most suitable genetic test for your unique needs, please consult the below guidelines:

• Single gene test: Suitable for when a clinician strongly suspects a specific gene.

•  

  Gene panel: Suitable for when a clinician wants to test a specific area for genetic mutations e.g. prostate. Our gene panels are based on international guidelines to ensure they are clinically valid.

•  

  Whole Exome Sequencing (WES): Suitable for when genetics are suspected to underlie symptoms but the specific gene(s) implicated are unknown, or for when symptoms are unusual or affect multiple organ systems.

   

• Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS): Suitable for patients who have received a negative WES result but have a significant family or clinical history.

Pharmacogenomic Testing (SNP Array or WES) is a companion diagnostic that can be run alongside other genetic tests. It detects genetic variants in patients that impact how they respond to a specific drug, how well the drug works, and the safety of the drug.
