NEA boundary noise measurement is performed based on “Environmental Pollution Control (Boundary Noise Limits for Factory Premises) Regulations 1999. Measurements are undertaken at the following time intervals:
The Equivalent Continuous Sound Pressure Level (LAeq) recorded for these three intervals is combined with recordings of LAeq at five-minute intervals. A report is issued upon completion of the test. Measurements are taken at location/s selected or at locations deemed most relevant by a quick survey of the surrounding perimeter of the facility with a sound level meter. Test results are provided to the client with indications as to whether levels recorded comply with regulation.
MOM workplace noise monitoring comprises sound mapping and measurement of machine noise levels for compliance with the “Workplace Safety and Health (Noise) Regulations 2011”.
Workplace noise monitoring consists of area noise monitoring, usually arising from machinery noises and processes and testing for the presence of excessive noise levels. In general, monitoring helps assess the level of worker exposure to hazards and the effectiveness of control measures in place. Regular monitoring performed by a recognised competent person is recommended to be conducted once every 3 years.
Personal noise monitoring tests the noise levels that specific groups of workers are exposed to. Test results of workplace monitoring are used to evaluate exposure and inform mitigation efforts to safeguard the workers’ health.

Ambient noise testing measures ambient noise levels in indoor spaces. This testing is often undertaken by Green Mark Sustainability projects to comply with “SS 553 : 2016, Singapore Standard, Code of Practice for Air-conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation in Buildings, Table 4 – Recommended Ambient Sound Level”.
