Eurofins Environment Testing laboratories provide comprehensive Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) / Environmental Baseline Study (EBS) services to support informed decision-making when developing, leasing, transferring, or acquiring industrial sites. Our assessments help identify potential environmental risks, liabilities, and compliance obligations while supporting JTC Corporation (JTC) requirements and National Environment Agency (NEA) regulatory requirements—ensuring your project starts on a solid foundation.

What is an Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)?

Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), also known as Environmental Baseline Study (EBS), is a systematic process used to evaluate the contamination status of a property. It helps identify potential environmental risks, supports regulatory compliance, and is frequently required by JTC Corporation (JTC) during industrial land leases, transfers, or terminations, as well as by the National Environment Agency (NEA) when land use changes are proposed.

The ESA process follows a phased approach:

Phase I: Preliminary site investigation and risk identification
Phase II: Detailed sampling and laboratory analysis
Phase III: Remediation and risk mitigation strategies

Eurofins Environment Testing is an approved Environmental Consultant listed under Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA), providing trusted ESA studies.

Why it matters?

Before any development or acquisition, hidden environmental risks can lead to costly delays, legal liabilities, and safety concerns.

Eurofins Environment Testing helps you:

  • Detect contamination risks early
  • Meet regulatory requirements (NEA and JTC requirements)
  • Protect long-term asset value
  • Avoid unexpected remediation costs

Geo-environmental services

Eurofins Environment Testing specialises in extracting high-quality soil, groundwater, and rock samples in a safe and efficient manner.

Eurofins Environment Testing laboratories uses Geoprobe drilling technology, which combines static force and hydraulically powered percussion to "push" tools and sensors into the ground. This sampling method is faster and more cost-effective than conventional drilling while providing results that are more representative of in-situ conditions. Surface and subsurface disturbance is minimised and, unlike drilling, probing generates no cuttings requiring disposal. The rigs can switch from direct push tooling to hollow stem augers in a matter of minutes to provide unrivalled site investigation versatility. Wireless remote technology provides exceptional and safe manoeuvrability in even the most confined spaces.

Eurofins Environment Testing specialises in a dual tube sampling method which is capable of collecting undisturbed soil samples to characterise soil profile in discrete intervals. The Geoprobe does not use any drilling fluids, such as bentonite, eliminating risk of cross-contamination.

In Singapore, Eurofins Environment Testing operates with 2 Geoprobe units available to locations across South East Asia for environmental sampling. In 2018, Eurofins Environment Testing completed 300 boreholes in 45 days using 2 Geoprobe units in the eastern part of Singapore.
