Full-house success! amfori and Eurofins seminar on Effective Navigation of Supply Chain Compliance
The amfori and Eurofins seminar on Effective Navigation of Supply Chain Compliance in Istanbul, Turkey, finished on 12 September 2023 with great success. Close to 100 delegates showed up at Wyndham Grand Istanbul Europe, while more than 100 delegates joined the live streaming.

Themed on compliance in the modern complex supply chain, the seminar brought together experts from amfori and Eurofins to shed lights on transparency and adoption of effective mechanism, as well as the rising pressure from due diligence regulations such as the German Supply Chain Act (Lieferkettengesetz) and EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (EU CSDDD).
amfori BSCI is one of the world’s most used social audit standards in ensuring and powering successful and responsible businesses. Globally amfori has more than 2,400 members in varied industries, covering roughly 42,000 suppliers.
The half-day seminar was kicked off by the welcoming remark made by Mr. Sevket Cankoy, Regional Director, Turkey & Euromed, Eurofins Assurance. Sevket expressed his gratitude to all speakers and guests, and encouraged everyone to express their questions proactively in all QA sessions.

Next, Mr. Randy Rankin, National Business Line Leader, Eurofins Assurance US, delivered the first speech ‘Importance of social compliance and due diligence in modern sourcing and rising regulatory pressure’ in the seminar. Randy went through the background and brief history of compliance, the relevant scope, and lastly implications and actions. His delivery set a great backdrop for upcoming discussions and presentations, which elaborated what actions buyers and suppliers could take in compliance management.

Following Randy was the presentation from Ms. Müge Tuna Kurt, Network Representative Türkiye, amfori. Müge first gave an introduction of amfori BSCI and programmes available. She provided a detailed explanation of how the amfori BSCI and amfori BEPI programs support buyers and suppliers in achieving transparency and compliance. Other compliance tools developed by amfori were illustrated also.

Mr. Sevan Cimen, Auditing Expert, amfori continued the discussion lead from amfori by giving an overview of common non-conformities issues in Turkey. He analysed the performance in term of number of audits, scoring and amfori BSCI Performance Areas (PAs). Where there were relatively high non-conformities, certain PAs were highlighted so delegates would be able to pay extra attention in upcoming audit applications and preparations.

Wrapping the day was a highly interactive Panel Discussion, hosted by Ms Katarzyna Dobraszkiewicz, Audit Manager of EMEA, Eurofins Assurance with all the three speakers, and a special guest Mr. Mohammed Khaled, Global Technical Manager of Eurofins Assurance. They discussed from how a factory would prepare for audit, to buyers’ responses to changing regulatory landscape, collaboration among all supply chain stakeholders and amfori’s adaptation to new landscape.
