Ukraine War Updates

Eurofins CPA inspection and audit operations in Ukraine have been completely suspended. We are happy to report that all our frontline staff there are safe and our best support has been offered to help them cope with this extremely difficult situation.

Traffic in nearby countries, including the Eastern part of Poland, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary has been impacted moderately, which might limit our service availability in the region. We are closely monitoring the situation and if you have any queries regarding our operations in the region, please do not hesitate to reach out to us anytime.

Should you consider employing Ukrainian refugees in European Union countries, or if you are working with suppliers in the EU that might employ Ukrainian refugees, there are some important notes to be aware of:

  • The EU granted Temporary Protection to Ukrainian refugees on 3 March 2022 and under this Directive, immediate protection and rights of eligible refugees are offered which include access to the labour market.
  • The Directive is valid for one year and will automatically be extended for up to one year. The employment processes vary in different EU countries and taking Poland as an example, a ‘Statement of Intention’ to hire a Ukrainian refugee is required to be submitted to the District of the Labour Office by employers.

In the medium to longer term, we urge you to consider the potential risks arising from an influx of refugees and the possible abuse of employment terms, which could include hiring refugees under a service provider agreement instead of proper worker employment contracts, or non-compliant refugee labour provided by unregistered agencies.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to everyone affected. May peace be soon restored.
