Amazon Direct Validation for furniture (clothing storage units/CSUs)
For the furniture testing page, section title: Amazon’s New Furniture Requirements: Direct Validation Now Mandatory
Starting in March 2026, Amazon mandates Direct Validation for clothing storage units (CSUs) and for CSUs intended for children. Amazon defines CSU as a freestanding furniture designed to store clothes with drawers (including fabric) and/or hinged doors that meet all of the following criteria:
- Height: At least 27 inches
- Weight: At least 30 pounds
- Storage volume: At least 3.2 cubic feet.
Examples include chests, chests of drawers, drawer chests, armoires, chiffarobes, bureaus, door chests, and dressers, with the exception of bookcases, shelving units, entertaining furniture, jewellery armoires, etc.
This new policy applies to the required CSUs listings on Amazon in the U.S. and Canada, including both new listings and previously approved ASINs. This includes fabric clothing storage units, which were previously excluded.
As an Amazon-approved Direct Validation provider, Eurofins Softlines & Hardlines helps you meet these requirements quickly and efficiently:
- Document verification: Review of test reports, CPC, and other compliance documents against applicable standards, including 16 CFR Part 1261, ASTM F2057-23, 16 CFR Part 1303, 40 CFR Part 770, and for units intended for children, CPSIA and 16 CFR 1500.48/1500.49.
- Label & manual review: Ensure product labels, assembly instructions, and tip-over warning labels meet regulatory standards.
- Corrective support: Provide corrective advice and re-testing if needed.
- Certificate upload & reporting: Submit compliance certificates to Amazon and share reports with sellers.

Frequently Asked Questions about Amazon Direct Validation
Amazon's Direct Validation (DV) programme is a mandatory compliance mechanism for specific product categories, including children's toys and furniture (clothing storage units/CSU), sold on Amazon marketplaces.
Under this policy, sellers can no longer upload compliance documents through Seller Central. Instead, all testing and verification must be completed by an Amazon-approved Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) provider, which submits results directly to Amazon on the seller's behalf.
Products that fail verification or where verification is never initiated risk immediate delisting. This makes choosing the right TIC partner one of the most consequential decisions an Amazon seller can make.
Within the Eurofins Softlines & Hardlines network of companies, a number of our laboratories are Amazon-approved Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) providers to perform Direct Validation for toys and furniture. Contact us now to start your Direct Validation for toys and furniture.
Both options are available. If you already have a valid, complete test report from an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory, we can review and validate it against Amazon's requirements. If the report is incomplete, expired, or from a non-accredited lab, we will recommend fresh testing at one of our laboratories. If you are unsure about it, contact us and we will be in touch with you.
Pricing depends on the product category, number of ASINs, whether existing reports can be validated or new testing is required, and the complexity of the product. Contact us for a quote.
