California Proposition 65: Impact on major consumer products

Assembling safety and quality in all toys and hardgoods

California Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, was developed to protect the State's drinking water sources from being contaminated with chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to inform Californians about exposures to such chemicals.

Overseen by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) and enforced by California Attorney General's Office, the regulation covers a wide scope of consumer products and failure to comply with the regulation could lead to a 60-day Notice and fine of as high as USD 2,500 per violation per day.

If you are planning to sell to California, or are interested in understanding more about this important regulation, don’t miss our webinar on 30 March! In this one-hour webinar, we will provide an overview of the Act, substances restricted, warnings requirement and 60-day Notice process for four major consumer products: apparel, footwear, toys and childcare products.
