NIOSH 7082 and OSHA ID-121 – Metal and metalloid particulates in workplace atmospheres

This method utilizes a 0.8 µm mixed cellulose ester membrane filter to determine worker exposure to aerosols containing lead. The working range is 0.05 to >1 mg/ m3 for a 200-liter air sample. The method is applicable to elemental lead, including lead (Pb) fume, and all other aerosols containing lead. The Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) set by OSHA for the maximum worker exposure to lead is 50 μg/m3 averaged over an eight-hour period.

USEPA SW-846  7420/3050B and 7000B- Lead in paint, soil, and surfaces (wipes)

This method will report the total concentration of lead in three different types of materials: Paint (% by weight), Soil (mg/kg), and Dust (via wipes) (ug/ft2).

USEPA SW-846 1311/3010A/7420 - Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP)

This is an extraction method used to simulate the leaching of potentially hazardous materials (i.e. lead) through a landfill and into the environment. A TCLP is primarily used to characterize waste (soil, blasting sand, etc.) to determine which type of facility will be utilized for disposal based on its hazardousness. Results are in mg/L.
