Eurofins Product Testing tilbyder en helt særlig ydelse via vores Udviklingsafdeling. Afdelingen tilbyder skræddersyede løsninger til kunder, som har brug for at analysere noget, som ikke er standard.

Vores yderst kompetente team af udviklingskemikere kan lave metoder til analyser som typisk relaterer sig til arbejdssikkerhed, produktionsforhold, produktsikkerhed, produktudvikling eller lignende, altid i et kundespecifikt format. Fordelen ved dette setup er, at man som kunde har metodespecialister koblet tæt ind på organisationen. Således er det muligt, via tæt dialog med vores folk, at bringe nogle kompetencer i spil som man som kunde mangler i sin organisation på specifikke tekniske opgaver.

Vi tilbyder bl.a. GC-MS screening af prøver for ukendte komponenter. En GC-MS-screening kan bruges i mange forskellige scenarier:

• På en ukendt prøve for at prøve at identificere alle forbindelserne i prøven
• At lede efter specifikke forbindelser, der mistænkes for at være i prøven
• At sammenligne en prøve med en reference (for eksempel at sammenligne forskellige batch af en prøve eller sammenligne en prøve med en formodet kontaminering)
• At identificere urenheder i et ellers rent kemikalie

Identifikationen er begrænset til primært VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) og SVOC (Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds), men databasen, som vi bruger til identifikation, indeholder omkring 250.000 forbindelser.

Prøven ekstraheres eller opløses i et passende organisk opløsningsmiddel indeholdende en intern standard. Opløsningen injiceres i GC-MS, hvor forbindelserne i prøven separeres og detekteres. Detektoren ioniserer og fragmenterer forbindelserne, og disse fragmenter kan bruges til at identificere, hvilke forbindelser der er i prøven ved at sammenligne dem med fragmenter i vores database.

Ved hjælp af den interne standard kan vi lave en semikvantitativ vurdering af indholdet af de enkelte forbindelser, og rapporten vil indeholde de semikvantitative resultater og en identifikationskategori (som angiver, hvor sikre vi er på identifikationen af de enkelte komponenter).

Eurofins Product Testing offers a specialized service through our Development Department. The department provides tailored solutions for customers who need to analyse something that is not covered by standard testing methods.

Our highly skilled team of development chemists can develop analytical methods for applications typically related to occupational safety, production conditions, product safety, product development, or similar areas, always tailored to the customer's specific needs.

The advantage of this setup is that customers have direct access to method specialists who work closely with the organization. Through close dialogue with our specialists, customers can draw on expertise that may not be available within their own organization for specific technical tasks.

Among other services, we offer GC-MS screening of samples for unknown components. GC-MS screening can be used in many different scenarios:

• Analysing an unknown sample to identify the compounds present in the sample
• Searching for specific compounds suspected to be present in the sample
• Comparing a sample with a reference, for example by comparing different batches of a sample or comparing a sample with suspected contamination
• Identifying impurities in an otherwise pure chemical

Identification is primarily limited to VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and SVOCs (Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds). However, the database we use for identification contains approximately 250,000 compounds.

The sample is extracted or dissolved in a suitable organic solvent containing an internal standard. The solution is injected into the GC-MS, where the compounds in the sample are separated and detected. The detector ionizes and fragments the compounds, and these fragments can then be used to identify the compounds present in the sample by comparing them with reference fragments in our database.

Using the internal standard, we can perform a semi-quantitative assessment of the concentration of the individual compounds. The report will include the semi-quantitative results together with an identification category indicating our level of confidence in the identification of each individual component.
