CPSC revised safety standard for portable hook-On chairs On 24th September 2018, the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a direct final rule in Federal Register to revise the mandatory standard for portable hook-on chairs incorporating by reference the most recent version of ASTM F1235-18. |
Comparing to the former rule adopted by the Commission on March 28, 2016, this final rule adds one safety-related revision requiring that the passive crotch restraint shall be installed on the product at the time of shipment in a manner such that it cannot be removed without the use of a tool.
The revised rule will come into force on January 15, 2019, unless the Commission receives significant adverse comment by October 24, 2018. From the effective date, each portable hook-on chair must comply with all applicable provisions of ASTM F1235-18, and must be certified at a CPSC accepted third-party laboratory.
