REACH compliance for articles

To stay compliant, you must monitor three critical lists and two specific volume thresholds.

1. Restricted substances (Annex XVII)
   
   • The rule: Use is strictly limited or banned.
   • Action: Ensure your product meets specific concentration limits before placing it on the market.
2. Substances of Very High Concern (Candidate List / SVHC)
   If a substance on this list exceeds 0.1% weight by weight (w/w) in your article:
   • Inform: You must provide safe-use instructions to customers.
   • SCIP notification: Mandatory entry into the ECHA waste database.
   • ECHA notification: Required if the total volume exceeds 1 tonne per year.
3. Authorisation list (Annex XIV) 
   • The "sunset date": After this deadline, the substance is banned unless you have a specific, granted authorisation.
4. Registration of substances
   Required only if a substance is intended to be released (e.g., a scented product) and exceeds 1 tonne per year.
