• Eurofins Product Testing Italy S.r.l. (Notified Body 0477) specialises in hearing protection and respiratory protection equipment certification.
• Eurofins Textile & Footwear Testing Spain (Notified Body 2865) provides CE type-certification for Category II and III PPE, covering:
  • General body protection (protective clothing)
  • Foot and leg protection (safety shoes)
  • Hand and arm protection (protective gloves)

EU market access

Regulation (EU) 2016/425 governs PPE sales in the European market. It defines three categories:

• Category I: self-declaration by manufacturers
• Category II: certification by a Notified Body
• Category III: certification and ongoing monitoring by a Notified Body

For Category II and III PPE, manufacturers must conduct product testing at accredited laboratories and submit CE marking requests to a Notified Body. For Category III products, an annual review via factory audit or sample testing is required.
