Eurofins Assurance supports food and dietary supplement players globally with cGMP compliance, sustainability and improvements.
Consumers have increasingly stringent expectations regarding the safety and authenticity of dietary supplements, requiring manufacturers, all over the world, to stay up-to-date with current regulations and industry practices. Market regulations may vary from country to country, but more and more retailers request that their suppliers meet cGMP requirements.
Dietary supplements are a way for consumers to complement their diet in order to improve their health, manage their weight, enhance sport as well as sexual performance, etc. They are taken orally and contain a “dietary ingredient” such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, bee products (royal jelly, propolis, bee brad, etc.) and herbs or botanicals, as well as other substances that can be used to supplement the diet. It is important to note that dietary supplements are not medicinal products and may not contain articles that are approved as new drugs, other undeclared drug ingredients, or make disease claims.
Whether they are marketed in the United States or in a EU Member State, dietary supplement products have to comply with all relevant aspects of FDA or EU food legislation and any specific EU Member State national legislation in terms of their composition, manufacture and control.
Dietary supplement manufacturers will benefit from our global network of food & healthcare experts to get audited against recognized standards based on cGMP and gain retailers’ trust and consumer confidence.
Eurofins Assurance teams are offering the following cGMP audit program and are available to help you choose the best solution for your specific need.
