Microbiological and Legionella analyses

High-quality drinking water is essential for everyone onboard. Due to limited space, drinking water sources may be located near wastewater or heat sources, posing potential risks.
Eurofins Maritime Services provides clear and reliable testing for microbiological and Legionella content in drinking water through accredited analysis.

Legal framework

Our experts are knowledgeable on legislation pertaining to vessel drinking water:

  • WHO Ship Sanitation Certificate
  • ILO Convention 178
  • MLC 2006

Accredited analysis methods

We use accredited analysis methods according to NS-EN and ISO norms.

Delivery time results

Results for microbiological analysis are available within 5 working days. (Legionella within 8 working days). Certificates are produced in English. 

Surveyor and self-sampling opportunities

Eurofins Maritime Services offers self-sampling services, providing sampling kits, complete with instructions. Fuel samples should be taken via continuous drip by using a fuel drip sampler.

Surveyor Service

For our Surveyor Service, we offer experienced professionals to perform the water survey for you. We intend to relieve you of the planning and provide you with an end-to-end solution. You only need to request a testing service with your account manager or ems-sales@eurofins.com and we take care of the rest.

Eurofins Maritime Services’ experienced sampling professionals provide an end-to-end solution at competitive pricing, arranging the transportation of samples and managing the accredited laboratory analysis of the samples. Customers receive all reports via e-mail and have a dedicated contact managing their case from start to finish. This surveyor service is currently available for potable water (microbiology and Legionella), IHM and asbestos.
