United States
All vessels must comply with the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention (BWM 2004) and hold a valid BWM Certificate issued by a Recognised Organisation on behalf of the national authority.
The BMW Convention came into force on the 8th September 2017. All vessels were required to comply with D-2 standards as of the 8th September 2024.
Who must comply with the Convention?
Exceptions:
Nearly all Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) receive Type Approval. The conditions of ambient ballast water vary significantly around the world and as a result, there is no single BWMS that fits every purpose. Most systems are designed to meet the majority of general conditions.
Alongside strategic partners, Eurofins Maritime Services conducts numerous Type Approvals for various BWMS. Eurofins Maritime Services provide the information required to perform commissioning testing.
Eurofins Maritime Services’ dedicated and professional team is available to travel to vessels 24/7 for consultations. Be sure to schedule commissioning in advance.
