Sean is participating in a Climate-Smart Horticulture project to meet the USAID’s 2020-2025 Eastern and Southern Caribbean Cooperation Strategy to build resilience in horticulture production in response to climate and human-caused shocks and stressors.
Sean will spend the first half of December in Guyana working with the Yeoville Ross Culture Women’s Group to demonstrate how to use and apply appropriate pest and disease control methods. He will provide specialized training in common pest and disease identification that affects specific crops, including kale, sweet peppers and tomatoes.
Additionally, Sean will offer instruction on how to apply the appropriate treatments and technology with the goal of ensuring effective knowledge transfer for pest mitigation and control on Guyana farms.
The Farmer to Farmer programme supports farmers and agribusiness professionals in developing countries to enhance their livelihoods and food security. Through the programme, US based volunteers are sent on technical assignments to offer practical training to communities, cooperatives, agribusinesses, and educational institutions.
