Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are organic chemicals characterized by high vapor pressure and low solubility in water. Although VOCs mainly originate from natural sources like plants and wildfires, their anthropogenic sources have grown over time. VOCs generated by anthropogenic processes are both domestic and industrial processes: food extraction, fertilizers, and pesticide use, septic system, chlorination, traffic, hydrocarbon fuels burning, petroleum storage and distribution, textile cleaning, printing, pharmaceutical industries, etc.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are found in various products and pose significant concerns to human health and the environment. Growing consumer awareness coupled with increasingly stringent regulations has intensified the pressure on businesses to manage VOCs in their supply chains and products effectively.
in August 2024, Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) issued the ZDHC Air Emissions Guidelines V1.0, which focuses on VOC emissions from input formulations aiming to support suppliers to gain data to understand their current performance level and guide them in establishing and implementing effective VOC emissions practices to progress from Foundational up to Aspirational Level.
Eurofins CleanAir Check will allow businesses that generate considerable VOC emissions throughout their supply chains, such as the textile and footwear industries, to align with ZDHC Air Emissions Guidelines and achieve regulatory compliance. Advantages include:
