Session 2 of 2: Wildfires and structure fires occur across the country each year resulting in devastating loss of property and life. We are only beginning to consider the longer-term health impacts fires have on our most vulnerable populations and how we can test for harmful residues called combustion by-products (CBP).
In session 1 of 2, we provided an overview of what CBPs are, why we should routinely test for them, and the most common sampling methods. In this session we will provide detailed recommendations of best practices in sample collections, ideal locations for sampling, and the interpretation of analytical results. Some case studies will also be presented in this session.
