The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) Version 8.0 has just been released in early March, introducing significant updates on material composition, supply chain due diligence, worker protections, climate criteria, chemical management, and circularity. While the new version will become mandatory from 1 March 2027, Certified Entities should get prepared to upgrade to the new version before the scheduled annual renewal. Retailers, brands, and supply chain partners  should  leverage this one-year window to prepare for the new version as well.

In his current role at Eurofins Assurance, Sumit oversees and manages sustainability programme development that covers Global Organic Textile Standard, Textile Exchange and Better Cotton. Prior to this role, Sumit held positions in technical compliance, quality assurance, and stakeholder engagement at IOAS, GOTS, and other third-party certification bodies. 

Sumit earned a Gold Medal in his Bachelor of Tech. and holds a Distinction in his Master of Tech. from leading institutions in India.
