EAS Expert delivers presentation at PREGA 2024, Hungary
András Borhi, EAS Group Principal Investigator and Hungary’s first registered drone pilot, recently delivered a very successful presentation at PREGA 2024.
Hungary's largest event, PREGA brings together modern, precision agriculture. Andras has been part of the PREGA organising committee for several years.
This year, his third as section lead, Andras chaired the drone section - "Drones in agriculture: monitoring and aerial application", - in which he was joined by 7 high-level speakers with practical presentations. Around 1200 participants attended the event over 2.5 days.
Of note, for the first time in the history of the conference, the Hungarian Aviation Authority attended and delivered an informative and useful presentation on current mandatory rules for monitoring and spraying drone use.
In 2023, the legislation, training and regulations related to drone spraying in Hungary was settled, so from 2024 onwards, the scope of authorised products (plant protection products) needs to be extended with active substance authorisation trials to further expand the legal use of drone spraying.
It will be important to establish a set of application rules agreed by authorities, formulation manufacturers and professionals, otherwise, treatments may not work due to inadequate conditions or lack of expertise.
