EPPO Workshop on Adoption of Digital Technology for Data Generation for the efficacy evaluation of Plant Protection Products
At the end of June, several Field and Regulatory colleagues participated in the 3-day EPPO workshop organized in the Netherlands. We also hosted a demo afternoon at our Dutch field station Eurofins | De Bredelaar.
Overall, a consensus emerged around developing more digital tools to assess efficacy trials
As digital technology develops quickly across a wide range of industries, including agriculture, this workshop was a great opportunity to share experience and critically discuss validation and acceptance of these new tools within Good Experimental Practices.
Expected benefits of digital solutions include:
- improving work efficiency
- traceability
- transparency
- precision of efficacy assessments for biological dossiers.
Since 2016, EAS teams have participated to the development and the evaluation of various digital tools, including drone aerial imagery analysis, in cooperation with technology solution providers, including some EU Horizon 2020 funded demo projects.
