We are pleased to announce that Eurofins Verdelab has obtained ISO/IEC 17025:2018 Accreditation for the detection of the pospiviroid Tomato Apical Stunt Viroid (TASVd) on tomato and pepper seeds.

This certification applies to the testing method EPPO PM 7/138 rev 1, 2021, Appendix 4.

This newly accredited test complements the previously certified detection of Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm) on tomato seeds, achieved in 2024. Together, they affirm the high quality of our laboratory processes and enable us to conduct official analyses for viruses, viroids, and phytoplasmas in accordance with European Phytosanitary Law.

The ISO/IEC 17025:2018 Accreditation—granted by ACCREDIA, the independent national accreditation body—certifies the technical competence, impartiality, and reliability of our laboratory. It confirms that our management systems and testing procedures meet internationally recognized standards, ensuring precise and trustworthy results.

Key principles evaluated and validated by ACCREDIA include:

  • Impartiality and independence
  • Absence of conflicts of interest
  • Technical competence
  • Responsibility
  • Confidentiality

The accredited TASVd test can be conducted on samples of 3,000 seeds from tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and pepper (Capsicum annuum). To submit a sample:

  • Download and complete the submission form from our website (same as for Cmm testing)
  • Submit the form along with your seed sample or via email
  • Page 3 of the form includes technical details, usage limitations, and guidance on handling non-compliant samples

If you wish to test the same seed lot for other viroids or viruses by PCR (e.g., ToBRFV), a single 3,000-seed sample is sufficient. However, if testing by ELISA (e.g., ToMV), separate samples are required.
