A one stop service for your soil field studies

This Winter, EAS (Eurofins Agroscience Services) have organized multi-site, virtual field and laboratory tours to present our complete E-Fate portfolio to several clients.

Despite the current pandemic-related restrictions, we were able to showcase how we successfully conduct complex multi-site soil studies, and the advantages of working with our unique, integrated team.

Field soil dissipation and soil accumulation studies are considered to be higher tier studies and can be conducted over several years in order to better understand the behavior of the test item under field conditions. Terrestrial field dissipation/accumulation studies need to be conducted at different sites in different geographical regions.

EAS offers a broad range of services delivered via a global network of GLP field stations in representative agricultural regions to meet your needs and fulfilling necessary registration requirements.  Drawing on our 20+ years’ experience in field soil studies, we have identified these essential components:

Robust study management: in Europe and in the USA, we have Study Directors specialized in e-Fate studies. They have accumulated years of experience dealing with regulatory requirements, specific application techniques and challenging active substances to design study protocols. They know that the unexpected often happens in long-term field studies and are well prepared to advise sponsors and supervise field teams in order to deliver a fully compliant GLP study.

In-house field expert network: our technical teams are highly trained and experienced, launching numerous new soil trials every year. This expertise helps us to anticipate and avoid risks, with most issues being swiftly resolved, allowing for a study to continue. In Europe we have several stations staffed and equipped for soil studies across Northern and Southern GLP zones and are also present in the USA, Latin America, North and South Africa, South East Asia and Australia/New Zealand.

Standard procedures and equipment across sites: we provide consistent and reliable results because we follow the same methodology at all field locations, with carefully selected equipment including mechanical sand cover, hydraulic soil corer, weather monitoring and irrigation. Standardized studies result in ease of comparison between individual studies and increase the knowledge gain.

Integrated analytical services: our chemists develop and validate the analytical method for all matrices ahead of the field phase. They are informed of the field phase progress and receive all samples from our secured GLP frozen shipment service. Our soil laboratories have dedicated rooms and specific equipment for the soil sample preparation, homogenization and residue analysis. In addition, soil characterisation (pH-value, CEC, pF2, WHC, TOC, TC, OM, Particle Size, biomass, density) and taxonomy analysis according to the USDA-NRCS Soil Taxonomy system can be done in-house at EAS.

Complete registration package: for convenience, we provide you with the study report together with the kinetics evaluation phase report, to obtain degradation rate parameters (modelling and persistence endpoints) of active substances and their relevant soil metabolites. Our environmental fate regulatory experts then perform risk assessments and provide additional registration services according to your needs.
