Japan regulates Implements, Containers and Packaging in Food Sanitation Act. Section 4.
Some requirements described in this Act:
- Positive List System (for synthetic resin): In accordance with partial revision of the Food Sanitation Act promulgated on June 13, 2018, a “positive list” system which allows only substances that have been evaluated for safety to be used in food apparatus, containers and packaging came into effect on June 1, 2020.

- Specifications and Standards by Material, e.g. glass, ceramic, PVC, Polycarbonate, etc.
- Specifications and Standards by Use
- Standards for Manufacturing Apparatus and Containers/Packages
- Specifications and standards for Milk and Milk products
