Goodbye to directive 89/686/EEC


The new Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), came into force on 20 April 2016 and is applied compulsorily as from 21 April 2018 (repealing date for Directive 89/686/EEC)

EC certificates issued under 
Directive 89/686/EEC (with the declaration of conformity prior to 21 April 2018) shall remain valid until 21 April 2023 unless they expire before that date.
Products covered by Directive 89/686/EEC which are in conformity with that Directive (with the declaration of conformity prior to 21 April 2018) may be placed on the market until 20 April 2019.

 On 27th March 2018, the European Commission published the titles and references of harmonised standards under Regulation (EU) 2016/425:
