After numerous attempts by the scientific community during decades, sustainable development finally raised to worldwide concern during the United Nations’ Earth Summit 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, the third international conference on the topic. Ever since, public administrations and private entities and corporations across the world have deployed and implemented corporate sustainability strategies to both, contribute to circular economy and ultimately to the planet’s health and to be more successful in economic terms, while gaining respect from consumers.
