The European Drinking Water Directive to be revised
The European Drinking Water Directive 98/83/EC is about to be revised.
The attached document is an opinion from the European Drinking Water (EDW) that the revision of 98/83/EC should particularly address the lack of EU-wide harmonized provisions on materials and products in contact with drinking water.
At the moment materials and products for drinking water contact are tested according to National legislations which potentially results in different levels of consumer protection across EU member states. However, a harmonized EU legislation in the drinking water field would ensure the same high level of clean drinking water for all European consumers.
