Annex I of Regulation (EU) No 10/2011

On 31st August 2017, the Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures of World Trade Organization (WTO) published notification received from the European Commission (EC) about the proposed amendment to Annex I of Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.

In this proposal, 4 new substances would be added to Annex I as below:

1) FCM Substance No 1061:  2,4,4-trifluorobenzophenone (CAS 80512-44-3);

2) FCM Substance No 1063: 2,3,3,4,4,5,5-heptafluoro-1-pentene (CAS 1547-26-8);

3) FCM Substance No 1064: tungsten oxide (CAS 39318-18-8);

4) FCM Substance No 1065: mixture of methyl-branched and linear C14-C18 alkanamides, derived from fatty acids (CAS 85711- 28-0).

Besides these 4 new entries, the existing entry concerning FCM Substance No 856 for (butadiene, styrene, methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate) copolymer cross-linked with divinylbenzene or 1,3-butanediol dimethacrylate (CAS 25101-28-4) in this Annex I shall be updated.

According to this notification document, the proposed date of adoption of this amendment by the European Commission would be December 2017.
