Training and awareness for the safe use of PPP's: EAS Europe
Tuesday, February 17, 2015
As part of the EU funded 'Better Training for Safer Food initiative', Richard Glass, our OPEX specialist, is involved in a 24 month training programme with the objective to support the sustainable use of plant protection products in the EU. The aim of the training is to update participants who will be dealing with activities related to the training of users and traders/distributors of plant protection products in compliance with the Sustainable Use Directive (Directive 2009/128/EC). The format follows a "train the trainer" approach.
Eurofins is also involved with preparing a factsheet for the Horticultural Development Council to provide advice to nursery growers in the UK on the selection and use of gloves for the protection of re-entry workers involved with handling treated plants. The use of gloves is important for exposure mitigation, especially in the few days after PPP application, and workers need to know how to select and use the appropriate gloves to comply with label requirements and ensure safe working conditions.
