Late Blight Demonstration Event 2019 in review
Tuesday, September 24, 2019
On Thursday 22nd August 2019, Eurofins Agroscience Services hosted the annual Late Blight Demonstration Event at Barrow Upon Trent in Derbyshire. The event has become a key date in the industries calendar; as ag-chem manufacturers demonstrate their treatments and programs to a whole host of visitors ranging from distributors to agronomists and academics to farmers. This year the event was well attended with over 150 visitors.
Hot topics of discussion on the day involved the ever developing challenges that the aggressive strains Green 37_A2 & Green 36_A2 are causing the industry and the future of desiccation without one of the key actives, diquat.
The discussion on setting the event date started in mid-July 2019 and the decision was made to demonstrate on the 22nd August with the plots showing clear differences and providing an excellent platform for clients to showcase their portfolios. Feedback from the event has been incredibly positive, with discussions over “Blight Day 2020” already underway.
2020 will prove to be a key year as the site will be larger and we hope to include more desiccation plots following discussions at this year’s event. We hope to investigate more contacts to include slots in trials for agronomists and also investigate expanding the site to some field scale work locally.
