Eurofins Analytik GmbH in Germany appointed as GAFTA referee laboratory
Hamburg/Bremen, January 17, 2008
Eurofins is glad to announce that its Wiertz-Eggert-Jörissen laboratory in Bremen has been nominated as the only German GAFTA referee laboratory under Rule No. 124 as of January 1st 2008. Eurofins | Wiertz-Eggert-Jörissen shares this status with eight laboratories in seven further countries, among these Eurofins | Steins in Denmark.
Since 1878 the Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA) in London has been promoting international trade and works to protect the interests of its members including traders of grain, animal feedstuffs, pulses and rice. Products are traded under standardised GAFTA terms and conditions, among them Rule No. 124 covering the quality control of shipments by setting down sampling and analysis requirements.
“We thank GAFTA for the nomination and are glad for this opportunity to serve its members. Our laboratory in Bremen is close to the major ports in Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Bremen and Brake which is very convenient for the German importers of grain and feedstuff“, said Dr. Werner Nader, Marketing and Sales Manager of Eurofins’ food and feed division in Germany.
Dr. Chris Würdemann, head of the W.E.J. Bremen site, continued: “The fact that two Eurofins laboratories, Steins and Wiertz-Eggert-Jörissen, are now GAFTA referee laboratories, will be of substantial benefit to the traders both in Germany and in Scandinavia. We will continue to collaborate closely with our Scandinavian colleagues to improve our services on a European level.”
