This is the first non-national Agroscience CRO to be established in Thailand. Thailand will act as the Asian HQ for future Eurofins Agroscience Services activities.
Local News
The new Pesticides Act is now in the implementation phase with 27,000 product registration certificates to expire on August 22, 2011. The DOA expects that roughly 50% of affected products needing re-registration will be no longer supported by the relevant companies. Most of these products belong to an older class of chemistry and the required tox / environmental fate data support is too costly to be generated.
Whilst the agro-industry is still trying to extend the deadline, it is unlikely that the effort will succeed, as the Pesticides Act within the frame of the Toxic Substances Act issued by the Ministry of Industries has been endorsed by the Parliament.
The first version of the Pesticides Act which required commissioning of re-registration trial work under the auspices of the Phytopathology, Weed Science and Entomological associations has now been revised and companies are allowed to organize the trial work themselves under the supervision of the DOA.
Now the contracting of trials by the agro-industry is therefore possible, Eurofins Agroscience Services Thailand offers its services and capabilities - Field trials are carried out at a new research facility in Takhli and throughout the Thai Peninsula.
