New staff, space and some unusual pests! EAS Austria

Michael Karlinger took up his role as Study monitor and Field technician in March. He holds a university degree in plant physiology and entomology and so brings with him a wealth of knowledge to strengthen the Austrian team. In addition, 135m² storage and office space has been added to the facility as operations increase.
Currently, the pest western corn rootworm Diabrotica virgifera virgiferais common in the whole region with very high populations of up to 50 beetles per plant in Maize. Also, Cyperus Esculentus or nut grass is abundant now in Maize and Pumpkin (ca. 150 ha)
