New field facility, EAS Sàrl France
A new field station will open officially in France during January 2011. The facility is based at Vergèze in the southern region of France and is situated at the site of Eurofins ADME, part of the Agrosciences Group. Eurofins ADME already conducts GLP residue studies and/or laboratory phases for many Agroscience projects so this new facility is both a logical and complementary step towards enhancing our portfolio in France. The new station will benefit from the existing office and technical support at Eurofins ADME and will be able to conduct field trials (GEP and GLP) in the Departments of Gard, Herault and Vaucluse, offering full coverage of the crops present in this area.

ASEAN GLP Focus Meeting; EAS Ltd, Thailand
We are participating in a GLP focus meeting in Thailand offering training and information on the field aspects of residue trials. Two EAS Group staff from the UK will travel to Thailand to rendezvous with our local team based in Takhli where they will demonstrate GLP principles in the field environment.
The workshop organised by ASEAN EWG is a two day event and will be held in Chiang Mai on January 10th – 11th, 2011. A classroom session is planned on the first day, followed by a day in the field. GLP principles for trial layout, application, sampling, storage etc will be demonstrated on two different crop types. The number of delegates currently stands at around 100 -

Biotech Service; EAS Inc., California
Our California research facility in the Central San Joaquin valley is increasing the number of potential trial locations to five, all served with reliable and multiple irrigation options. This will nearly double the land area we are managing for annual and permanent crops, and allow multiple locations for biotech work. In addition, it will increased our capability for drought stress and trait research on multiple crops, and for conducting long term permanent crop product safety studies. Soils offered are loamy sand, sandy loam, and loam soils, including low nutrient soils for fertility and plant nutrition amendment testing.
In addition, the California site has begun the process for obtaining a license to conduct radio labeled trials – the expectation is to have it in place for spring 2011. These capabilities will add to our valuable nematicide testing sites, and other broad product testing capabilities in this region. All of the California offices will be consolidated this winter at our main office and field site located in Fresno County

COLUMA Conference, EAS Sàrl, France
Earlier this month, Eurofins Agroscience Services participated to the 21st French COLUMA (international conference on weed control) at Supagro Dijon, France. Many crop protection experts attended and presented new strategies for weed control, innovating herbicides as well as an update on those weeds resistant to herbicides.
EAS France attended the event and welcomed both partners and customers to our exhibition stand - it was a great opportunity for our French customers to better understand our global capacities in terms of field services, analytical services and regulatory affairs.

Additional Processing Capabilities, EAS GmbH, Germany
At our processing facility in Stade, we have recently invested in additional equipment to further enhance the service offering in cereals quality, oil extraction and rice, peanut, wheat and olive processing. We are please to bring you up date on our newest equipment and processes:
Oil extraction; we have a large scale extraction column which enables us to perform a solid-liquid-extraction with several technical possibilities. Distillation, extraction with lipophilic solvent i.e. hexane (extraction of rape seed oil, peanut oil etc), extraction with water (essential oil from citrus fruit, peel, herbs etc)
Rice processing; hulling, polishing, parboiling and cooking
Peanut processing; peanut oil, peanut butter
Wheat processing; wheat starch, gluten & feed meal
Cereals quality; determination of Falling Number (Hagberg Test), Gluten Index, Gluten Content, Zeleny Index (sedimentation), impurities, weight of a hectolitre, shrivelled grain, NIR-examination (protein content, Zeleny,…), Farinogramm, Amylogramm, Extensogramm
Olive processing; blackening of green olives
